What is a doula - birth keeper?
A doula is a professional, non-medical companion trained in the needs of the family. A doula provide clients with continuous support during pregnancy, labour and birth, and the postpartum period.
A doula can offer constant, non-medical support to the birthing woman and their birth partner. They help families during pregnancy, labour, and birth by providing informational, practical, emotional, and physical support.
Postpartum doulas offer non-medical support to new parents and their families. Their focus includes post-birth recovery, changing family dynamics, and newborn care.
On the other hand, a birth keeper is one who keeps the space, the stories. She is a witness, supporting the birthing woman as she leads her birth, serving them as they need in the moment.
About me
I’m Júlia, originally from Hungary, serving women in Ireland.
My journey into birth work began through the raw, powerful transformation of becoming a mother myself and witnessing the births of the children of my friends—experiences that shifted everything.
My doula training is comprehensive, covering the full spectrum of care: from pregnancy and labour to birth and postpartum, breastfeeding support, babywearing, rebozo, homeopathy, and more. But at the heart of it all is my deep trust in birth and in women.
I believe birth is not something to be managed or controlled. It is a deeply intuitive, physiological process that unfolds best when women are trusted, witnessed, and supported in their own power. My role is to be present with you—not to direct or perform, but to hold space, listen deeply, and walk beside you as you lead your own journey.
I offer a less-is-more approach. I don’t arrive with a toolkit to manage or control the birthing process. I come to witness, to honour, and to hold space—because I believe birth works best when it’s uninterrupted, undisturbed, and led from within.
I offer antenatal education in English and Hungarian with a focus on simplicity, sovereignty, and safety. I am especially passionate about undisturbed birth and supporting women who are seeking a more natural, grounded, and autonomous experience—whether that means home birth, free birth, or simply claiming their voice within the medical system.
Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, a home birth, or something outside the system, I support you in making informed choices that feel aligned with your values and instincts. My work is rooted in presence, not performance—because women don’t need to be saved or directed in birth. They need to be seen, trusted, and supported.
I offer consultations, support, and education both in person and online. In the postpartum period, I provide gentle physical and emotional support, listen to your birth story, and help however I can—whether that means holding the baby while you rest, helping with chores, or taking care of older children. Whatever helps you feel held—I’m here for that.
Birth changed my life—it showed me that we already carry everything we need inside us. If you’re seeking someone to walk gently beside you, hold space, and remind you of your strength—I’d be honoured to support your journey.
