Free Birth & Wild Pregnancy
Reclaiming birth as an instinctual, sovereign rite
Wild pregnancy is the choice to carry your baby outside the medical system, guided by your own intuition, body wisdom, and inner knowing. It may mean declining routine prenatal care, choosing not to engage in scans or testing, and instead cultivating a deep connection with your baby, your body, and the natural rhythms of pregnancy.
Free birth (also called unassisted birth or sovereign birth) is the decision to birth without clinical or medical attendants—led entirely by the birthing woman and those she chooses to invite into her space. This is birth as ceremony, as transformation, and as a deeply personal, embodied act of power.
Free birth is not about rejecting support—it’s about choosing it intentionally. As a birthkeeper, I do not medically manage or "deliver" babies. I walk beside women who know that birth is not a medical event, but a physiological and spiritual passage.
If you are choosing a wild pregnancy or preparing for a free birth, my role is to:
Witness you in your wholeness
Offer grounded information and emotional anchoring
Reflect your authority back to you when the world forgets it
Hold space
If you are walking the path of wild pregnancy or planning a free birth, know that you don’t have to do it alone. You are the expert of your body and your baby—but that doesn’t mean you can’t be held along the way. I'm here to offer non-clinical, intuitive, and wholehearted support—whether that's helping you prepare, holding space during labor, or simply being someone who sees and trusts you.
You don’t need permission to choose this path. You just need the right kind of support. If you feel called, I’m here.
FAQs
Is free birth legal?
Yes. In Ireland, it is fully legal to give birth at home without the presence of a licensed medical professional. Free birth is a lawful and valid choice for any woman. What’s important to know is that while birthing alone or with chosen non-clinical support is legal, certain birth professionals (like midwives) are restricted by law from attending outside the system unless they are working under specific regulatory bodies.I do not provide medical care or advice; my role is non-clinical and centered on emotional, spiritual, and practical support.
Can I still have support during a free birth?
Absolutely. Free birth simply means no licensed medical professional is managing the birth. You can still choose to be surrounded by loving support—your partner, family, or a birthkeeper —someone who is present with reverence, not authority. Free birth doesn’t mean being alone unless that’s what you choose.
Is wild pregnancy safe?
Wild pregnancy is a path chosen with intention. For some women, true safety is found not in monitoring, but in deep connection to their own body and baby. It’s about redefining what safety means. Wild pregnancy isn’t about ignoring health—it’s about defining health on your own terms. Many women who choose this path are deeply informed, connected to their intuition, and confident in making decisions outside standard prenatal protocols. Safety looks different for everyone, and for some, it means tuning into the body rather than outsourcing trust.
What if something goes wrong?
Choosing free birth doesn’t mean ignoring the possibility of complications—it means taking full responsibility for your choices, including when and how to seek support if needed. Many free birthing families create emergency plans and stay aware of signs that may call for medical attention. They educate themselves thoroughly, and remain open to transferring care if necessary. Autonomy is not recklessness—it is mindful responsibility.
Why do people choose free birth or wild pregnancy?
Because they desire to birth in sovereignty. Because they trust their bodies. Because past experiences within the system have felt limiting or unsafe. Because they feel most supported in quiet, private, self-directed spaces. Because they trust birth. Because they’ve had difficult experiences in the system. Because they want to birth in their power. Because they feel safe in their own hands. Every woman has her reasons—and all are valid. This is a frequently asked question? There is no single reason—only a deep inner call to reclaim birth as a sacred, physiological process.
